Hamaguchi Apps has introduced a unique storytelling experience through their application, "You're the Storyteller: The Surprise."

In this captivatingly animated and wordless narrative, children observe each scene and are encouraged to craft their own narration by recording and/or writing. The HOME version of the app is designed for individual use on the iPad (not compatible with iPhone). For a demonstration, refer to our Youtube video: Watch Here.

The storyline revolves around a boy who brings home a stray dog and endeavors to keep it concealed from his mother. The tale unfolds through body language, facial expressions, and thoughtfully chosen sound effects, revealing the essence of the title, “The Surprise!”

Comprising 8 chapters, each segment of this wordless book lasts approximately 15 seconds, allowing children to narrate the story in small increments. Via the Table of Contents, users can replay the entire narrated story. Additionally, users can opt to view the original tale with or without musical accompaniment, share their story via email with the voice file included, or print it out.

Furthermore, each chapter presents “Challenge Words” for those interested in enhancing their narration with advanced vocabulary. The “Questions” section offers three prompts per chapter, with answers and suggestions accessible in the Information page.

The HOME version of the app stores only one user’s voice file and written narration at a time; each new recording or written segment replaces previous content. (Note: The Professional Version retains voice/narration files for up to 30 users).

Beyond being entertaining, this app offers diverse educational and therapeutic benefits: aiding in articulation practice, fluency enhancement, syntax development, social cognitive skills such as perspective-taking and interpreting body language/facial expressions, and more.

PRIVACY POLICY: We uphold user privacy by refraining from collecting personal data or displaying advertisements. User performance data within the app is self-contained and not shared externally unless voluntarily emailed. There are no in-app purchases; however, a demo link enables online viewing of app features on YouTube.
